Our Staff

Kirkwood is fortunate to have a number of wonderful staff members who strive to model Christ-like behavior and demonstrate loving attention to everyone they serve.

  • Rev. Alex Regets - Lead Pastor

Alex and his wife Amanda grew up in Manteno, IL, and have four children, Payton, Emma, Eli, and Finn. Alex was ordained by the PC(USA) in 2019, has a Bachelor’s in Religious Studies from Olivet Nazarene University, a Master’s in Divinity from Western Theological Seminary, and a heartfelt desire to reach the people of our community with the radical message of God’s steadfast love and the transforming power that is available in Jesus.

While in Canada, Helen and her husband Zoli continue to worship with us online and keep in touch. She is a wonderful source of knowledge for the staff and a blessing to our congregation.

  • Shon MorganAssociate for Contemporary Music, Media, & Technology

In July of 2023 we welcomed Shon onto our staff in order to oversee all things to do with our contemporary worship at the 9am service, along with our media and technology here at Kirkwood. • John VanHouten - Maintenance Supervisor

John joined our staff in November 2023, bringing with him a wealth of skills and initiative. Originally from New York, he has called Bradenton home for over 20 years. John's dedication is evident as he willingly takes on all kinds of tasks (and usually notices what needs to be worked on before anyone else has a chance to mention it). Outside of work he is a family man with three sons and two grandsons and he enjoys, golf, mission trips, and taking his grandkids fishing.

  • Chris May - Custodian

Chris has been serving as our dedication custodian since assuming the role in May of 2023. Chris has been a valued member of our congregation for a long time, and goes above and beyond in this role taking care of table set-up and tear-down, sanctuary seating, and ensuring that our building always looks welcoming to new visitors. And his commitment to maintaining our place of worship always embodies the sprit of service that we're all called to.

  • Isis Mavenyengwa - Nursery Director

Isis joined our staff in January of 2024 to help oversee our Nursery which is offered for the 9am Contemporary Service and the 11am Traditional Service, as well as the 10am Sunday School hour in between services. And we have a dedicated group of volunteers from within the congregation that partner along with Isis to ensure that we always have at least two people watching out for our little ones on Sunday mornings!

Our Leadership

At Kirkwood every member of the congregation has an equal vote, and Elders are elected from within the congregation to serve as a representative democracy (men and women are both encouraged to serve in the leadership of the church). Elders agree to serve three-year terms (with the option to serve an additional three years at the end of their first term), so that most years we have 2 elders leaving the Session while 2 new elders take their place. And the elders oversee the pastor and other staff, while also serving as the main decision making body of the church. They are a great resource if you're new to the church and looking to get connected!
